The Du Mai: Guiding Intuition and Manifestation from the Center
Think of the Du Mai as the ‘energetic spine’
It nourishes the brain, anchors the spirit, and connects us to higher consciousness.
It governs both our posture and our potential
In order to channel energy, develop intuition, and manifest our reality it is important to focus on the state of the nervous system, otherwise the ideas will be scattered, disorganized and difficult to decipher.
What is required for optimal regulation:
- A strong, stable spinal axis
- A protected, yet open heart
- A regulated nervous system
Other Characteristics
- The Du Mai is closely connected with transformational cycles, survival issues, and groundedness in the world.
- It controls our ability to be ‘upright and independent’
- Storage vessel or reservoir of energy – absorb and store excess
- Ocean of yang – replenish primary channels – Yoshio Manaka
The Du Mai Channel has been our focus in this class due to the importance of the channel of a developmental level, however its Yin meridian partner is the Ren Mai which although it is less relevant in a bodywork practice, it is important to understand the meridian pairing.
