Kidney Meridian
Meridian Pathway
Starting on the sole of the foot, the Kidney meridian travels to the medial aspect of the foot, circles the ankle, and moves up the medial leg. It meets with SP6 (three Yin point) and ascends posterior to the SP meridian, into the back of the knee, up the medial thigh where it goes internally into the genitals, kidneys and organs, travels externally .5 cun lateral to the Ren Mai to the xiphoid process, moves laterally to 2 cun (3 finger widths) from the midline to the superior border of the clavicle at KI 27.
Conditions to treat
The kidney meridian is most commonly used to treat conditions that involve deficiency such as fatigue, low back pain and reproductive conditions. In bodywork its most effective areas are at the beginning and end of the channel.
KI 1, and KI 27 are both powerful points for hormone regulation, and building up constitutional energy.
